The Introduction
A pet is not really a live animal. It is actually a doll brought to life by a nomadic magician in Henesys named Cloy.  Cloy sprinkles the Water of Life extracted from Ellinia onto to pet dolls and animates them. Once the Water of Life dries up, an enchanted pet will turn back into a doll. To bring a pet back to life, one needs the Water of Life and a spell from Mar the Fairy 
 
Getting a Pet
Pets are only available for purchase in the MapleStory Cash Shop. There are several pets to choose from such as puppies and kittens and many more will be added shortly. Get your pet and adventure together today!
 
Raising a Pet

To raise the CLOSENESS:
Spend time with your pet. The more you hunt with your pet the better.
Command your pet to perform actions. (For a complete list of pet commands, speak to Cloy at the Mushroom Park of Henesys.)
Feed your pet. (To buy pet food, speak to Dufus around Henesys or Corporal Wilson around Orbis)
Complete pet quests at Pet Park of Henesys.

Pets need food. A hungry pet is an unhappy pet so pay attention to the FULLNESS of your pet. If the FULLNESS of your pet reaches 0, your pet will return to your inventory as a doll. If this happens, “double-click” your pet in the inventory to revive it and feed it quickly.

Be patient with your pet as it is not always inclined to listen. Pets can perform many actions that develop with your attention. Pets have even been known to speak after some good nurturing. 
 
How to Revive the Pet
When the Water of Life runs out, a pet turns back into a doll (after 90 days of purchase). To revive it, you need to visit Mar the Fairy at Ellinia. She will ask you to bring her the Water of Life and a Life Scroll to bring your pet back to life.
The Water of Life can be purchased at the Cash Shop, and Life Scrolls can be found through Trainer Bartos at the Pet Park . 
 
Purchase your Pet
You can buy your pet in cash shop.
In cash shop, there are various tabs. Click the Pet tab. Is there any pet you want to accompany? Not only just pet, but also a few of accessories are available, too.
However, the Water of Life can not hold your pet alive forever. It can prevent your pet from turning back to doll for 90 days. But, don’t worry! There is a ‘Water of Life’ in “PetUse”.
Buying this, you can bring your friend to life. 

Pet Inventory
Pets have their own pet inventory just like MapleStory characters. Through items in their inventory, pets can be equipped with accessories just for pets. There are many available items such as hats and items that will enable your pet to pick up dropped mesos and item drops. Equip your pet to enhance your play and match your style!

ITEM INVENTORY
The Item Inventory Window displays all the items held by the your character. Your items are classified in the Item Inventory Window in five tabs: equipment, use, set-up, etc and pet. Items held in storage are not displayed in the Item Inventory Window.

Place the cursor over an item to see the item’s requirements and attributes in detail. Your total meso is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
The “use” items can be placed in the HotKey’s for quick access and use.  

The HotKey: ( I )

At the bottom right of the game screen, there are shortcut icons of Item Inventory, Equipment Inventory, Character Stats, and Skill Inventory.
 
EQUIPMENT INVENTORY
The Equipment Inventory Window displays all the items that are equipped by the your character. You can only put on a single item per equipment slot.
Place the cursor over an item to see the detailed descriptions of each equipment item.

The HotKey: (E)

At the bottom right of the game screen, there are shortcut icons of Item Inventory, Equipment Inventory, Character Stats, and Skill Inventory.

CHARACTER STATS
The Character Stats Window displays all the stats of your character. When you level up, ability points will be granted to your character. Raise your character’s attributes by pressing the highlighted arrows next to the desired attributes. Distribute your attribute points wisely
as each job requires a different attribute focus!

The HotKey: (S)

At the bottom right of the game screen, there are shortcut icons of Item Inventory, Equipment Inventory, Character Stats, and Skill Inventory. 

HP: A character will die if the HP level reaches 0. HP is decreased if a character is attacked or performs a particular skill that uses HP. The MaxHP of a character is 30,000. If a character’s HP drops down to certain level, the HP meter will start to blink. Through the ‘System Option’, the HP meter can be customized to blink at a selected level.

MP: Mana Points. Mana is required to perform various skills and spells. By default, MP will increase 3 points every 10 sec. MP can go up to a maximum of 10,000.

Max HP: It’s the maximum amount of Health Points a character can have. Max HP increases either after leveling up or adding a stat point to it. The amount of growth depends on the job and the skills that comes with it.

STR (Strength): The stat that affects the most of the character’s ability to attack with a melee weapon. (Warriors, Bowmen)

DEX (Dexterity): The stat that affects the success rate of attack. (Bowmen, Thieves, Warriors)

INT (Intelligence): The stat that affects the magic attack. (Mages)

LUK (Luck): The stat that affects the accuracy of character’s attack and avoidability from monster’s attack. (Mages, Thieves) (The job classes focus on the different attribute points as shown above. Raise your attributes wisely!) 

SKILL INVENTORY
The Skill Inventory Window displays the skills that a character possesses.
Place the cursor over a skill to see a detailed description of each skill.
A non-passive skill can be placed in the quick slots for quick access.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Curious about a character?

Double click or right click him/her ->’PERSONAL INFO’ on the game screen.

The Character Information Window displays specific information pertaining to a character such as the character information, the item list, level, fame, and guild.

CREATING A CHARACTER

At the left of the character are the items it is equipped with, and on the right, the name and the stats.

CHARACTER FEATURES
The character can be outfitted with a basic set of clothes, face, and hairstyle.

Click on the item at the right of the list to choose the item of your liking.

CHARACTER STATS
Choose the name for the character, then press CHECK to see if the name is available.

The stats for STR, DEX, INT, and LUK will be randomly assigned through a red dice on the right of the screen.
You can roll the dice until you find the right combination of stats for your character.

CHOOSE THE CHARACTER AND START THE GAME
Choose the character you want to play with, and then click on “choose character” to start the game.

1.Head over to the menu on top of the MapleStory website. Click on “Guide” to open a tab, and then click on “download” to head over to the download page.
2.Click on the link to have the download window open, then click on “save” to start downloading.
3.The download is complete.
4.Click on “Run” to open the file.
5.Choose the directory where MapleStory will be installed. If you want it saved on a default folder, just press “next.”
6.The game has been fully installed. Press “Finish” to end the InstallShield wizard.
7.Double-click on the MapleStory icon on the desktop to start the game.
